Gordon Ramsay's New York restaurant debuts with two Michelin stars

Gordon Ramsay's New York restaurant has been awarded two stars in the 2008 Michelin guide for the city, which is was published yesterday.

The restaurant at the London hotel, which opened to mixed reviews at the end of last year, joins New York's roster of 42 Michelin recognised establishments.

The guide lists a total of 565 restaurants, 523 of which receive no stars.

Gordon Ramsay said of his award: "It is a great honour to have received two stars from the Michelin Guide in our first year in New York. To achieve such recognition means a huge amount and I am very proud of chef de cuisine Josh Emett, maitre d' Jean-Baptiste Requein and our very talented team."

Ramsay Holdings now has 11 Michelin stars in total including nine in London, which takes into account the star lost with the closure of Angela Hartnett at the Connaught.
