Fat Duck scores 10/10 in Good Food Guide

Heston Blumenthal's three-Michelin-starred restaurant The Fat Duck has been awarded a rare ten out of ten in the latest Good Food Guide.

The iconic restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, has been named the best in Britain by the guide as it became the first eaterie in four years and only the third overall to have achieved the top mark.

Gordon Ramsay's eponymous restaurant on Royal Hospital Road last attained the perfect score in 2005, with Nico Ladenis having previously scored it at Chez Nico in 2000.

Good Food Guide editor Elizabeth Carter said: "It's extremely rare that a restaurant cooks perfectly on a consistent basis, but we've had so many superlative reports that we're delighted to recognise The Fat Duck as the best restaurant in Britain."

Blumenthal said the worldwide recognition the Fat Duck receives is greatly welcomed. "However, first and foremost I am very proud to be British and overwhelmed at being voted the best restaurant in the UK by the Good Food Guide."

The Good Food Guide 2009 is published on 4 September priced £16.99.

Last year, the Good Food Guide named the Fat Duck as the UK's best restaurant in its inaugural gastronomic top 40.
