Scotland wins four new Michelin stars

Four new Michelin stars have been awarded to restaurants in Scotland in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2009, while one restaurant north of the border lost its Michelin star.

In Edinburgh, the Plumed Horse, which relocated from Crossmichael in Dumfries & Galloway just over two years ago where it held a star, has been awarded a star. Joining the Plumed Horse is former Lehman Brothers executive chef Bruce Sangster. His eponymous restaurant, Sangster's, is in Elie, Fife.

Meanwhile, in the Highland's Colin Craig and Lesley Crosfield's the Albannach in Lochinver was recognised with a star, as was Boath House, where head chef Charlie Lockley also holds four AA rosettes.

One establishment in Scotland was demoted in this year's guide, Glennapp Castle in Ballantree, South Ayrshire.
