Jamie Oliver to launch new joint venture in London

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is to launch a new restaurant in London this autumn in a joint venture with US chef and barbeque enthusiast Adam Perry.

The duo has taken over a site at the One New Change retail and commercial development in the City and will launch the yet-to-be-named restaurant in October. The move comes after Oliver travelled across the USA for his Channel 4 series Jamie's American Road Trip.

The new restaurant, which is likely to offer a barbeque-focused menu along similar lines of Perry's Daisy May's BBQ restaurant in New York and will also include a shop, will be operated by Kevin Bacon, managing director, International Restaurants for Jamie Oliver.

Bacon said: "The heart of London is the place to be and One New Change, as a new signature building set so close to St Paul's, is just perfect. Introducing this brand new dining concept in such a prominent global position is something we are extremely excited about."

Property agent Land Securities brokered the deal for the One New Change site.

Jamie Oliver launched his high street chain Jamie's Italian to huge critical acclaim in 2008. The group now runs seven outlets, with a new flagship site planned to open in Covent Garden later this year.

Oliver is set to expand his high street restaurant chain Jamie's Italian to Asia.

Hong Kong-based Tranic Franchising has partnered with the celebrity chef's company to roll the concept out across the continent, with up to 30 restaurants planned.
