Lanesborough Concierge wins Lifetime Achievement award

Colin Short, concierge of the Lanesborough hotel, London, has carried off the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 5th Annual Morris Golden Keys Concierge Awards 2010.

After being presented with a glass trophy at the awards ceremony at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London, Short (pictured, on the left, with Steve Cooper, promotions and events manager for John Lewis Oxford Street), a former president and international delegate of the Society of Golden Keys for four years, said it was a great honour to be recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I pride myself on being able to make every guest feel like they are in safe hands - ensuring things happen on time and every time," he said.

The other award winners of the night were Ian Steiger of Dukes hotel, London, who was named Concierge of the Year London Member; Joseph Winders of the Balmoral, Edinburgh, for the Concierge Out of Town award; and Alan Grimes of Cameron House, Loch Lomond, for the Society of the Golden Keys Service Through Friendship award.

Steiger, 31, said that with so many great concierges in London, he was amazed to have won the award.

"Being a concierge is my dream job," said Steiger (pictured, on the left, with Martine Ainsworth-Wells, marketing director for Visit London, and Ron Crowdy, president of the Society of the Golden Keys), who joined Dukes nearly four years ago. "Great service does not come from winning. It's about being at the top of your game all the time."

The annual awards are organised by the Society of the Golden Keys of Great Britain and the Commonwealth, in conjunction with Morris Visitor Publications in Europe.
