Wilson Vale wins £500k catering contract with Amgen
Boutique caterer Wilson Vale has been awarded a £500k staff catering contract with biotechnology firm Amgen.
Wilson Vale will provide breakfast, lunch and hospitality services for 750 Amgen employees at its sites in Uxbridge, where operations have already commenced, and Cambridge which launched today (Monday).
The contract win follows a strong financial year for Wilson Vale. Its year end results to 31 December 2010 reveal annual turnover to be £13m, around 10% up on 2009.
Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale, said: "We couldn't ask for a better start to the New Year. Despite a challenging marketplace, we continue to attract like-minded clients who have a quality ethos and who appreciate fresh food and great service.
"Approximately 40% per cent of our new business development can be attributed to recommendations or an extension to existing business. People make a business and we feel that our success to date can be firmly attributed to the relationships which we have built with our clients."
Andrew Wilson established the company in 2002 with his partner, Carolyne Vale, who oversees the operations side of the business. The company's 65 contracts are predominantly within the B&I and education sectors and it employs 550 staff.
