Byron to open first restaurant outside London at Bluewater

Burger chain Byron is set to open its first restaurant outside of London at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

Byron, which was founded by Tom Byng and is owned by Gondola Holdings, has taken over a 4,061sq ft site in Bluewater's Village, which is also home to Côte, Loch Fyne, Carluccio's, Zizzi and Pizza Express.

Byron is currently fitting out the site and the restaurant will open in late spring.

Commenting on the launch, Byng (pictured) said: "The move out of London is a bold but logical step for Byron, and Bluewater is the perfect place to begin. It shares our commitment to quality and very high levels of service.

"This, combined with Bluewater's enduring commercial success, means that we will have the ideal location from which to showcase the Byron brand as we begin the next stage of our expansion."

Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Bluewater owner Lend Lease, added: "Byron is the latest element in the evolution of Bluewater's dining offer, and joins a number of well-established brands in the Village."

Shelley Sandzer acted for Bluewater. The Gondola Group dealt direct.
