Best Western adds new PLUS hotels to its portfolio

The Best Western group of independently owned hotels has announced its first new members joining at the Best Western PLUS level.

Best Western PLUS Maldron Hotel in Cardiff (pictured) and the Best Western PLUS Park Grand London Heathrow Gateway are two newly built hotels which between them add 328 bedrooms to the Best Western portfolio.

They bring the portfolio of PLUS hotels - defined by bigger beds, top-quality bedding, extended breakfast range with local specialities, bathrobes, additional complimentary toiletries and increased comfort and technology - up to 18.

Keith Pope, managing director of Best Western, said he was encouraged that the two hotels had chosen Best Western over other international hotel brands to be their partner. "We're now attracting new, bigger, high-quality hotels into membership as a result of the significant investment we've made into marketing and repositioning Best Western over the past two years," he explained.

"It's certainly a positive indictment of the brand enhancement strategy we launched last year and which now sees Best Western with additional brands - Best Western PLUS and Best Western PREMIER."

Hotels under the PREMIER brand are selected for their memorable quality, design and facilities.

Two other hotels which have also joined Best Western in the first quarter of 2012 are the 95-bed Best Western Appleby Park Hotel near Tamworth, and the 51-bed Best Western Oaks Hotel in Burnley.

Best Western, which launched a three-tier brand strategy in October 2011, now has 280 three- and four-star hotels, including 18 PLUS level and nine hotels at PREMIER level.
