Tom Aikens to open Tom's Kitchen in Canary Wharf next spring
Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens is set to expand his Tom's Kitchen brand, with the opening of a third site in Canary Wharf next spring.
The move comes after Aikens last year received a cash injection from new business partners London Doors, a division of Istanbul Doors Restaurant Group. The investment saw the chef relaunch his flagship restaurant in Chelsea as well as announce plans to roll out the casual Tom's Kitchen brand.
Tom's Kitchen, Deli and Bar in Canary Wharf will open in April 2013, with more sites planned for the near future.
Aikens said: "We have been exploring options for a space in east London for some time now and we are thrilled to be moving forward with this exciting third location. We are keen to offer our quality British comfort food, featuring the finest seasonal produce to the thriving Canary Wharf community."
Tom's Kitchen currently runs two restaurants in Chelsea and at Somerset House, a partnership with Compass Group, where the chef also runs Tom's Deli and Tom's Terrace.
Aikens had planned to open a Tom's Kitchen in Canary Wharf in 2008 but was forced to shelve plans after his business ran into financial difficulties. He subsequently lost control of his business that year, when his company went into a pre-pack administration and was bought by businessman Peter Dubens.
