Whatley Manor GM Peter Egli to leave the business

Wiltshire hotel Whatley Manor in is seeking a new general manager following the decision by Peter Egli to return to Switzerland.

Egli took over management of the luxury country house property in March 2004, leading the hotel to become a member of Relais & Châteaux in 2005.

Whatley Manor also achieved Inspectors Choice Hotel with five red stars and four rosettes recognition by the AA in 2006, as well as a number of other accolades under his leadership.

Egli and his wife Esther have been appointed hotel directors at luxury five-star hotel the Suvretta House in St. Moritz, and are expected to make the move early next year.

Owner Christian Landolt said: "We accept Peter's decision, with regret, to leave Whatley Manor in 2014 and are grateful for the guidance and passion that he has instilled in the property as well as the care he has taken with our guests and the team.

"We wish him and his family a lot of success and happiness in his new venture back home. A successor is currently being recruited."
