Daniel Boulud and Nico Ladenis honoured at Cateys 2015
Iconic chef-restaurateurs Daniel Boulud and Nico Ladenis were both honoured with prestigious awards at this year's Cateys, which took place at a glittering awards ceremony at London's Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, tonight (Tuesday 7 July).
Boulud - who is famed the world over for his Dinex Group of restaurants, including New York City's two-Michelin-starred Daniel restaurant and London's Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park - took the International Outstanding Achievement Award, now in its second year having last year been won by Nobu Matsuhisa.
Meanwhile, Ladenis, who won three Michelin stars and a rare 10 out of 10 in the Good Food Guide for his restaurant Nico at Ninety in London in the mid 1990s, inspiring a generation of British chefs in the process, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Both Boulud and Ladenis appeared in person to collect their awards alongside more than 1,200 of their peers at what is regarded as the Oscars of the hospitality industry.
Meanwhile, the special award went to Stephen Moss, who this year celebrates 25 years of involvement with Springboard Group, the charity he founded that has helped so many young people forge successful careers in hospitality.
"It was an absolute privilege and an honour to be joined by one of the world's most self-effacing and respected chefs, Daniel Boulud, and culinary giant Nico Ladenis, whose work is legendary," said The Caterer editor Amanda Afiya.
"Celebrating our 32nd Catey Awards, we were once again very proud to welcome the finest hoteliers, restaurateurs, foodservice operators and chefs to the Grosvenor House. The energy in the room was quite extraordinary and we congratulate all our winners who of course join our iconic Cateys Academy."
During the event, industry charity Hospitality Action unveiled a hard-hitting new advertising campaign featuring Jason Atherton, Angela Hartnett, Tom Kerridge, Heston Blumenthal and Ashley Palmer-Watts.
