Las Iguanas to open in York and Brunswick Square, London
Latin American-style casual-dining group Las Iguanas is to open its 47th and 48th sites in York and Brunswick Square in London this March.
The 110-cover Brunswick Square site is set to open on 21 March, and will be housed within the grade II-listed Brunswick Centre. The site is designed by B3 and will feature reclaimed and recycled materials, including distressed timber and original brick walls, and an outside terrace area.
This will be followed by the 120-cover York site on the city's Back Swinegate, opening on 28 March, which will be set over two floors, including an upper level seating 70. Decor will include banquette seating and chandeliers made in metalwork.
Both sites will offer the group's familiar menu of Mexican-inspired and Latin American-style dishes, such as fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and steak, plus drinks such as the classic cocktail, Caiprinha, made with Las Iguanas' own distillation of cachaça.
A new spring menu is set to offer fresh dishes such as ceviche with leche de tigre and sweet potato crisps, a Brazilian Moqueca de Piexe curry, and Cuban-inspired glazed ribs. Desserts will include dulce de leche cheesecake and churros with cinnamon.
There will also be a range of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and children's options.
Las Iguanas has seen a period of relatively rapid expansion of late, despite being hit by last year's tipping scandal, which saw it accused of less-than-transparent tipping and service charge policies alongside a host of other casual-dining restaurants, including Cote and Turtle Bay.
