Londoners continue to be charged more for a pint

An annual survey by the Good Pub Guide has revealed there is an 87p difference between the cheapest and most expensive pints in the UK.

A beer in Herefordshire costs an average price of £3.21, whereas in London punters are charged around £4.08 for a pint, a difference of 27%.

This is an increase of 6% compared with last year, when the price gap was estimated at 82p.

The average price of a pint of beer in the UK is £3.47, only 1p more than last year. This is a small increase in comparison to the survey carried out in 2014/2015 which showed a 15p rise.

Findings also show pubs that brew their own beer charge 48p less than the national average, with typical prices of £2.99.

The Good Pub Guide, now in its 35th edition, is an annual publication that recognises the best pubs in the country.
