Vivek Singh to open Cinnamon Bazaar in Covent Garden

Vivek Singh is to open Cinnamon Bazaar next month, the first Cinnamon Collection restaurant to open since the group's acquisition by Boparan Restaurant Holdings in January.

The restaurant, to open on Covent Garden's Maiden Lane in November, is the first in a planned expansion by Boparan Restaurant Holdings owner Ranjit Singh Boparan, who has set £10m set aside for new projects.

Boparan Restaurant Holdings bought Giraffe restaurants in June and also owns the Harry Ramsden restaurant and Fishworks chain.

This new 90-cover, all-day concept will aim at a more casual market than sister restaurants Cinnamon Club, Cinnamon Kitchen and Cinnamon Soho, with a predicted spend of £20 per head.

It will feature a larger bar than other Cinnamon sites, offering infused cocktails with a focus on gin, while the main dining room will feature a bold colour palette and hand-painted graphics alongside hanging lanterns.

Breakfast dishes will include traditional parathas, and lunch will include Kolkata spiced cod and Indo-Chinese stir-fried chicken with chilies. Larger plates, such as chargrilled Chettinad lamb and Kerala boatman-style smoked haddock curry, will also be on offer.
