Signature Living's Shankly hotel to star in BBC TV series

Signature Living's Shankly hotel in Liverpool is set to be the latest hotel to open its doors to television cameras in new BBC series A Very Northern Hotel.

Following in the footsteps of the Corinthia Hotel London, Cliveden House and the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London, which have all been the subject of documentaries over the last few years.

The 83-bedroom hotel, which is a tribute to the Liverpool FC manager Bill Shankly, is co-owned by Signature Living founders Lawrence and Katie Kenwright and Christopher William Shankly Carline, Bill Shankly's grandson. The hotel features communal rooms that can sleep up to 24 guests in multiple beds, alongside dancefloors, bars, hot tubs and even a swimming pool.

Produced by Spun Gold, A Very Northern Hotel will take viewers on a journey into the £12m hotel when it airs on BBC One, with an air date yet to be confirmed.

Kris Mochrie, Signature Living managing director, said: "We are delighted that the BBC and Spungold chose the Shankly hotel for its new documentary series.

"The reason we agreed to allow the cameras into the hotel was to show how the Shankly is a portrait of modern Britain with diversity and equality in every walk of life from our amazing staff and amazing guests, we have always been an inclusive employer and a hotel that loves to welcome its guests, we don't exclude anyone."
