Julian Tomlin to move from Pennyhill Park to Macdonald Hotels

Julian Tomlin is leaving Exclusive Hotels and Venues after 18 years with the company to join Macdonald Hotels as a managing director.

The search is now on for a replacement for Tomlin, who is currently general manager of Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Surrey, and group director of operations across the company which comprises seven properties, including South Lodge, near Horsham, West Sussex; and Lainston House, Winchester, Hampshire.

During his time with Exclusive, Tomlin has been general manager of Lainston House, headed the group's sales and marketing function and looked after the company's two venues, Farnham Hall and Royal Berkshire. Most recently he ran Pennyhill Park, which currently holds one Michelin star and four AA rosettes for its Latymer restaurant.

"I've been particularly fortunate to work with such a fantastic team," he said."I'm now looking forward to applying the same enthusiasm at Macdonald Hotels as I have at Exclusive."

Danny Pecorelli, managing director of Exclusive Hotels and Venues, said that Tomlin had been "an absolute superstar during his 18 years with the hotel who has been a great privilege to work with".

He added: "Julian will be genuinely missed."

Macdonald has a portfolio of 39 properties across the UK.
