Candidates for Gold Service Scholarship 2020 invited to open house
Potential candidates for the Gold Service Scholarship are invited to gain an insight into what has become the hospitality industry's most high-profile accolade for young front of house staff.
An open house will be held at the Corinthia Hotel London on 10 June, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, to promote the 2020 scholarship, which will open for entries on 1 September.
Former scholars and finalists, along with trustees and ambassadors of the competition, will be in attendance to highlight the benefits of the scholarship. Guest speakers, including Jeremy King of Corbin & King restaurant group, Dan Buckingham from Virgin Atlantic and Tom Beahon of sportswear brand Castore sport apparel, will talk about excellence, motivation and service.
Edward Griffiths, trustee and chairman of the competition, said the event will be "an opportunity to learn more about the scholarship and why front of house service is so important."
To enter the Gold Service Scholarship, applicants should be aged 22 to 28 and working in a front of house role in any area of the hospitality industry, including clubs, pubs, restaurants, hotels and catering companies. The 2020 scholar will follow in the footsteps of seven previous winners: Rebecca Clough (the inaugural winner in 2013), James Fleming, Daniele Quattromini, Jennifer Santner, Stephanie Beresforde, Michael Staub and Karen Gruet.
Anyone interested in attending the event should email Edward Griffiths at edwardgriffiths@me.com.
