Wychwood Park to get £3m makeover

Wychwood Park hotel in Cheshire has launched a £3m refurbishment of the property as part of ambitious growth plans.

The bedrooms, bar, restaurant and public areas at the 110-bedroom property in Crewe are all earmarked for major changes. The scheme's first phase, including 38 of the hotel's bedrooms, is now complete, with the remaining scheduled to be ready by September.

A revamped restaurant and bar, atrium and other public areas will also be unveiled to guests and visitors in the autumn. Set in 200 acres of Cheshire countryside, Wychwood Park also features a PGA European Tour-standard 18-hole golf course and 27 function suites and multi-purpose meeting rooms.

Robert Glashan, general manager at Wychwood Park, said: "We're now looking forward to unveiling our new look later this year and we're confident that it will play a crucial role in taking us into our next chapter."

Project manager Mark Hateley, from MAH Consultancy, said: "From the outset, it was important that we created a strong leisure and hospitality feel for Wychwood Park, while staying true to its corporate functionality.

"We wanted to move the venue away from being seen purely as a place to hold conferences, showing guests and visitors that it really is somewhere for both business and leisure. To do this, it was essential to bring some warmth into the public areas, creating a relaxed ambience and adding a touch of luxury to the bedroom interiors."

Mokan Hotels Company bought the hotel from Principal Hotel Company off a guide price of £8m in 2017, and appointed Legacy Hotels & Resorts to manage the property.
