Galmiche takes over at Cliveden

French chef Daniel Galmiche has joined Cliveden, the former stately home owned by Von Essen Hotels, as executive head chef.

Current executive chef Mark Dodson will work alongside Galmiche until the end of the year after spending three years at the Berkshire hotel.

Galmiche will oversee all food operations at the luxury hotel, including Waldo's, which has three AA rosettes, and be responsible for hiring and training staff.

He will also devise a new menu for the all-day brasserie as part of a £4m makeover of the hotel's spa.

Galmiche has worked at highly respected restaurants in France and at Le Gavroche in London, but has recently been dogged by bad luck.

Both Harvey's in Bristol and L'Ortolan in Shinfield, Berkshire, where he regained a Michelin star, closed while he was working there.
