Admiral Taverns appoints Peter Brook as managing director

Admiral Taverns has appointed industry veteran Peter Brook as managing director of 400 underperforming pubs as part of a move to split its operation into three divisions.

The move follows a recent review which revealed that 200-250 pubs have been identified for sale, leaving 1,550 in the core estate plus the 400 in a new division headed up by Brook.

Brook, previously managing director of Innspired and Tattershall Castle Group, joins with immediate effect and is expected to bring in new tenants in some of the worst-performing pubs. He is believed to be aiming for an average profit per pub of at least £30,000, up from about £20,000 at present

"By splitting out these pubs it will enable us to devote our expertise and additional resource where it is required," Brook said. "This is a positive move for the company allowing quicker and more effective management and focused investment decisions."

Lynne D'Arcy and Andy Clifford will remain as joint managing directors of the core estate.
