Adnams buys three iconic Suffolk pubs from Punch

Adnams has paid Punch Taverns an estimated £2.7m for three iconic Suffolk pubs, the brewer and pub operator announced today.

The news comes on the day it was reported that Punch has sounded out a number of pub operators about bidding for any of its 8,400 pubs.

The pubs covered by the Adnams deal are the Maybush at Waldringfield, the Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill and the Ship at Levington.

Jonathan Adnams, chairman of Suffolk-based Adnams, said: "For many years we have thought that these pubs would fit perfectly within our estate and when the opportunity arose we were delighted to complete the purchase from Punch Taverns.

"Despite these tough trading times, we have every confidence that excellent pubs will continue to thrive."
