All Bar One owner buys Ha Ha Bar & Grill from Bay Restaurant Group for £19.5m
Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) has bought food-led chain Ha Ha Bar & Grill from Bay Restaurant Group in a £19.5m deal.
The acquisition of the 22 leasehold sites, due to complete on 3 October, will see M&B convert them to its All Bar One (12) and Browns (six) brands as part of its drive to become a food-led pub retailer.
The four remaining sites will be run as other M&B pub brands.
M&B chief executive Adam Fowle said: "Whilst small, this acquisition illustrates our ability and our strategy to develop sites to create value for M&B shareholders.
"It will also provide an excellent opportunity to grow significantly two strong brands, All Bar One and Browns."
In August M&B sold 333 pubs, mainly wet-led and therefore deemed surplus to requirements, to the Stonegate Pub Company. The company has also recently sold its tenpin bowling business Hollywood Bowl.
