Alvaston's £3m plan

Rank Organisation's Warner Holidays division is to spend about £3m over the next couple of years adding 70 bedrooms, a golf clubhouse and upgraded leisure facilities to Alvaston Hall, Cheshire.

The company's application for detailed planning consent follows completion of a £750,000 refurbishment of the property's existing 103 bedrooms and the addition of a cabaret and restaurant seating 300.

The next phase this winter, costing about £1m, will see 31 bedrooms added. A further £2m spend, probably in 1996, will involve another 39 bedrooms and upgraded leisure facilities, including a coffee shop, restaurant and bowls arena.
