Apex adds London to hotel portfolio

Scottish hotel chain Apex is to open its first London hotel this autumn.

The Apex City of London hotel will be situated next to Tower Bridge in the site of a former office block. It will undergo a £20m refurbishment to transform it into a contemporary 130-bedroom property.

Plans for the four-star hotel also include five conference rooms, a signature Metro bar and brasserie and gym.

Apex Hotels' chairman, Norman Springford, said: "To be considered a strong player in the British hotel market, a hotel chain needs a London property. The Apex City of London is the realisation of a number of goals and marks a significant step forward in the growth strategy for Apex Hotels."

This will be the Edinburgh-based company's fifth hotel.
