Arena is on the ball for charity

Hospitality networking association Arena is organising a charity ball to coincide with Hotelympia 2004.

Dubbed BallArena, the event will pull together different sectors of the industry to raise money for charity Hospitality Action and for Springboard UK, which advises on hospitality-related careers.

Contract caterer Chester Boyd has agreed to organise the catering, while Lionel Benjamin, director of food and beverage at the Savoy in London, will oversee front-of-house arrangements.

The venue has yet to be decided, although it's likely to be in exhibition centre ExCel in London's Docklands, home of Hotelympia 2004, or in a purpose-built semi-permanent structure nearby.

Companies that have already pledged their support include 3663, Aramark, Compass, Fresh RM, Hobart, the Mayday Group, Portfolio Design International and P&G Professional. Arena director Tammy Mariaux said: "We are looking for support ‘in kind', through donations of time, goods and services."

BallArena will be held on 24 February 2004. Further information from Arena organiser Penny Steiner on 020 8395 6065 or penny@arena.org.uk, or Sarah Summers at William Murray PR on 020 8681 3116 or sarah@williammurraypr.co.uk
