Army recruits Sodexho
Sodexho Defence Services has won a five-year contract worth £1.4m in annual turnover to provide an array of support services to the Army in the North-west of England. The services, which include everything from catering and cleaning to dry cleaning and shoe repairs, were previously carried out under 65 separate contracts. The new deal covers more than 20 army sites in the North-West. All 250 workers involved will join Sodexho under transfer of undertakings (protection of employment) rules, or TUPE. Five other companies bid for the contract. Sodexho also said today it had been awarded the contract to cater at Van den Bergh Foods' Brooke Bond Tea manufacturing site in Manchester. It is expected to turn over £309,000 a year.
