Arora Hotels adds Renaissance London Heathrow to portfolio
The Renaissance London Heathrow - one of the first major hotels at the airport - has been acquired by Arora Hotels.
Built in 1973, the 649-bedroom hotel, which has been bought from Hotel Property Investors, will continue to operate under Marriott International's Renaissance brand.
The new owner, Surinder Arora, founder and chief executive of Arora Hotels, said his relationship with the Renaissance London Heathrow went back to the mid-1970s when he worked at the hotel as a part-time banqueting waiter to supplement his income to pay for a private pilot's licence training. "I am therefore delighted to add this prestigious hotel and those that work there to the Arora group," he added.
Arora will now immediately embark upon a major refurbishment programme of all the hotel's bedrooms and public areas.
Reiner Sachau, chief operating officer for Marriott International in Europe, said "We are delighted to be partnering with Arora Hotels at the Renaissance London Heathrow and are very excited about the wide-ranging refurbishment plans that we have for the hotel."
Founded by Arora in 1991, the Arora group's portfolio of hotels include six properties - the Arora Hotel Heathrow, Arora Park Heathrow, Arora Hotel Gatwick/Crawley, Arora Hotel Manchester, Sofitel London and Sofitel London Gatwick - in addition to the newly acquired Renaissance London Heathrow.
