Babe Ruth's to go under the hammer

The entire contents of London's Babe Ruth's restaurant, including a 20ft high polystyrene model of the legendary baseball player of the same name, will be auctioned off on 16 April.

A full-size hang-glider, a one-on-one basketball court, as well as the kitchens, the entire fixtures and fittings and even the toilets, will all go under the hammer.

The auction takes place at the 380-seat sports-themed restaurant in Wapping, London.

The restaurant, which opened near Tower Bridge in 1996, closed in February.

It has since been sold to property developers.

Babe Ruth's former owner Seabourne Group, an Essex-based company involved in international freight and courier services, has abandoned plans to continue in the restaurant trade.
