Beardmore hotel joins the Premier league
The four-star Best Western Beardmore Conference Hotel in Clydebank, Glasgow, has become the first consortium member in Scotland and the second in the UK to achieve Premier status.
Best Western introduced the top-tier Premier brand to attract more of Britain's upmarket hotels to its stable.
The 168-bedroom Beardmore had to provide 27 additional amenities and services above those required of core members. These included concierge service, complimentary newspapers, 24-hour fax and photocopying facilities and in-room safes.
Keith Pope, director of membership services at Best Western, said another seven hotels were aiming for Premier status and he expected two or three of them to achieve it by mid-2004.
