Becoming a hotel/restaurant inspector

Becoming a hotel/restaurant inspector

Question

I left catering college more than 26 years ago with a City & Guilds qualification and an Ordinary National Diploma.

Having worked in hotels and restaurants in various positions from general assistant to hotel manager, I now wish to explore the possibility of becoming a hotel/restaurant inspector with the AA or a similar organisation. How can I find out more about this?

I suggest you contact the major guides, such as the AA and Michelin, directly. They may have an information pack that they can send you. You can also look on their Web sites for employment opportunities. Both the AA ([www.theaa.com](http://www.theaa.com)) and Michelin ([www.viamichelin.com) have Jobs sections that you can access by clicking on Jobs at the bottom of their home pages. In addition, you should begin preparing your application letters and CV, and think about what attributes, skills and experience you have that would enable you to be an effective inspector.
