BHA report forecasts £11.5b total sales
Hotels in Britain are expected to achieve sales of £11.5b next year.
Last year they recorded a combined annual turnover of more than £10b, according to the British Hospitality Association's annual report, British Hospitality: Trends and Statistics 2001.
The report estimates that the number of hotels in the UK will grow by 2.1% per year over the next two years, with two-thirds being budget hotels.
In the catering industry, food sales reached £22.3b last year, slightly lower than 1999's £22.5b.
