BIL International to buy London's Clermont?

BIL International, the investment firm controlled by billionaire Quek Leng Chan, is reported to be acquiring the Clermont Club in London's Mayfair from the Rank Group.

The deal is said to be worth in the region of £30m and would see the Clermont become the first casino operated by BIL Gaming, a subsidiary set up last year and headed by Paul Collis, former managing director of Stanley Leisure Gaming Division.

A spokesman for Rank Group said: "The Clermont is up for sale and bids are being considered but a decision is still some way off."

BIL International, which also owns the Thistle and Guoman hotel brands, declined to comment.
