Blackpool Pleasure Beach plans Disney-style hotel

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, one of the most visited tourist attractions in the UK, wants to take a leaf from the Disney business manual and develop its own hotel aimed at families, offering all-inclusive short-breaks.

The privately owned leisure park has applied to Blackpool Council for planning permission for a 119-bedroom hotel, which it wants to start building next year and open early in 2003.

A spokeswoman for Blackpool Pleasure Beach said it would be drawing up complete package deals, to include admission to rides, shows and restaurants as well as accommodation.

There is already a railway station alongside the park which was funded by the Pleasure Beach.

While leisure guests will be the primary market, the hotel will also be looking to bring in conference business outside the high season.
