Bouncer licence to rise from April
Bouncers will have to pay more for a licence from April to meet a funding shortfall at the Security Industry Authority, the organisation that administers the system.
From 6 April the cost for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence, which is legally required by all UK door supervisors, will rise from £190 to £245.
The Home Office said the increase would allow the SIA to remain self-funded while achieving its objectives.
Applications received before the 6 April will be processed at the current fee and the SIA intends to review the new fee annually.
As part of the three-year licence bouncers undergo a criminal record check and complete a four-day training programme before being allowed to work on the door.
