Bourne & Hollingsworth launches late-night cocktail clubroom

Bar group Bourne & Hollingsworth is to operate a late-night cocktail and clubroom below its London Clerkenwell restaurant and bar, launching on 6 November.

Below & Hidden, which will be found below the 70-cover, 220 sq ft Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings on Northampton Road (pictured), has been purposefully designed to be dark and "living room-sized" in contrast to the larger, lighter space upstairs. It will open Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 2am.

The space will offer bottled cocktails made with smaller, boutique spirits, designed and co-created by cocktail expert Jim Wrigley and bar staff from the group's other bars, the Bourne & Hollingsworth Bar and the Reverend JW Simpson in London's Fitzrovia.

Drinks will be served via personal table service rather than at a bar in a bid to ensure guests don't lose their seats. Tables of four to six people must be booked in advance with a £200 minimum spend.

Décor-wise, the floors and ceiling will feature tapestry-covered walls hiding LED light panels, which will be revealed later in the night as an in-house DJ begins a music set, and all tables will be moved aside to reveal more of the dance floor.

The Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings opened in late 2014 with a brasserie menu, greenhouse space, café area and extensive cocktail offer.

The team behind Bourne & Hollingsworth has also operated ‘roaming bar' the Fourth Wall, which launched in 2011. This bar featured the same wallpaper, tablecloths and cocktail glasses as the group's permanent bar, but was packed up and moved on at the end of every night.
