PORTABLE refrigerators for transporting small batches of chilled or frozen food have been introduced by Aqua-Marine. Engel boxes come in four sizes - 21, 29, 39 and 60 litres - and can be set to hold food at up to 5¼C (chilled) and -18¼C (frozen) in ambient temperatures of up to 30¼C.
A dual voltage facility allows units to be cooled down before transport using mains power and then transferred to DC power from the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket (or an optional hard wired boot socket in the case of the 60 litre box). Prices start at £490.
