Breakfast sales climb 125% at Barracuda
Breakfast sales at pub company Barracuda have climbed by 125% over the past 12 months.
The company, which operates 206 managed pubs, said it was benefiting from early morning trade, with like-for-like sales up 35% in the 9am - 12 noon period.
Breakfast is now being served from 9am or 10am until 12 noon in most of Barracuda's 206-strong pub and bar estate, led by its all-day trading offer Smith & Jones. A new breakfast menu was launched in March, featuring traditional early morning favourites such as a full English breakfast not available in the high street coffee chains, as well as toasted teacakes, sausage, bacon and fried egg sandwiches.
Barracuda's breakfast offer is also complemented by Costa coffee, which is now available in 130 of the Group's pubs nationwide. Since the introduction of Costa across the Group's estate, coffee sales have increased 28% across the Group as a whole.
Mark McQuater, chief executive of Barracuda Group, said: "I am extremely encouraged by the success of our breakfast and branded coffee offer which have been well received whilst generating significant incremental sales and increasing trading hours across our pub estate. This development perfectly complements Barracuda's strategy of operating a more rounded, seven-day trading business."
