BrewDog to open sixth bar site in Newcastle
Scottish brewer BrewDog is set to open its sixth bar site in Newcastle.
The company has acquired Hoko 10, a bar in the centre of the city, to add to its sites in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham and Camden Town, north London.
The deal for the leasehold of the property was brokered by property agent Christie & Co.
BrewDog was founded in 2006 by James Watt and Martin Dickie, producing its first beer at its Fraserburgh brewery a year later.
The company opened its first bar in Aberdeen in 2010.
Mark Worley, associate director of Christie & Co, who negotiated the assignment of the nil-premium, free-of-tie lease, said: "The Hoko 10 site is a perfect introduction for BrewDog in the North-east of England, in a lively bar circuit, between Newcastle upon Tyne's Quayside and Diamond Strip. We are delighted that BrewDog has chosen Newcastle as the location for its first site in the North-east of England and it is testament to the city's ability to attract investment in the licensed trade."
