Bristol area to get new luxury hotel

A luxury 55-bedroom hotel is planned near Bristol following the £1.7m purchase of a local country club by entrepreneur Simon Matthews-Williams.

The former managing director of Merseyside's Centre Island Hotels, who sold his 40% share in the business earlier this year, has snapped up the Cadbury House Leisure Club, set in 14 acres of parkland at Congresbury, North Somerset.

Planning permission is already in place for a two-storey wing of 55 bedrooms to be added to the historic property, and a second extension of a similar size is planned if the demand warrants it.

The leisure club at the house already has 800 members and will continue to operate.
