Bristol pub wins 100th Beautiful Beer award

The Angel inn in Long Ashton, near Bristol, has become the 100th Beautiful Bear award recipient.

The award scheme, officially launched in March with support from the British Beer & Pub Association, is part of the Beautiful Beer campaign.

Beautiful Beer was set up to improve the image of beer and encourage more people to enjoy it on more occasions, especially as an accompaniment to a meal.

Licensees Sian Powell & Tony Vile collected a Gold plaque after passing the scheme's cellar to glass assessment.

The majority of award winners so far have been at the gold standard, but there is also a more advanced platinum award that assesses not only beer quality, but also the presentation of beer in the pub, including range, glassware and staff knowledge.
