Brownsword boss Jason Carruthers quits to join Jurys Inn
Amaris Hospitality has named former Brownsword boss Jason Carruthers as new managing director of Jurys Inn.
Carruthers, who replaced Nick Halliday as chief executive of Brownsword Hotels fewer than 18 months ago, will assume his new position in early January 2016.
His new appointment sees him tasked with developing and growing the Jurys Inn brand. Previous experience includes the role of vice-president operations at Accor, as well as senior positions with Novotel and Shire Hotels.
Commenting on the appointment John Brennan, chief executive of Amaris Hospitality, said Carruthers joins the business at an exciting point.
"We're currently adding eight new hotels to the already well invested Jurys Inn estate as part of our strategy to maximise opportunities for the Amaris Hospitality portfolio," he said.
"As managing director of Jurys Inn, Jason will play a key role in building on Jurys Inn's successes to date, enhancing its already strong market positioning and helping drive superior trading performance."
Carruthers added: "I'm very excited about joining Jurys Inn and Amaris Hospitality and to take on the challenge and opportunity to contribute to the ambitious plans for the group."
Jurys Inn currently operates 28 city centre hotels in the UK, Ireland and Prague, while eight additional hotels will be rebranded to Jurys Inn this month.
Brownsword Hotels has started the process to appoint Carruthers' successor and expects to make an announcement soon.
Andrew Brownsword said: "I'd like to thank Jason for all his efforts at Brownsword Hotels, where his energy and positivity have delivered efficiency alongside some great results. Both the management team and staff across all of our hotels have very much enjoyed working with Jason, as have I, and we wish him well in his next role".
