Brunning and Price opens Red Lion pub in Staffordshire after £1m revamp
Gastropub company Brunning and Price has re-opened the Red Lion pub near Lichfield, Staffordshire, after a £1m extension and renovation.
The pub, which opened on 15 August, after being bought from Enterprise pubs for £700,000, now seats 150 inside and 75 on the terrace, and has an open-plan garden room on the site of what was a dance hall. There is also a new kitchen, service area, a terrace and newly-landscaped gardens.
There are also open fires, old furniture, rugs, oak floors, plants and flowers, in line with other Brunning and Price pubs.
The bar serves a selection of cask ales on tap, plus a wide choice of malts, gin, and wine, alongside a modern British menu.
Manager Chloe Turner said: "We are a classic pub restaurant run by foodies. Our menu has a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world."
She added: "We're obviously biased, but we think the Red Lion is a little cracker and are optimistic it will be as successful as all our other new pubs."
Managing director Mary Willcock said that the company was planning to continue its expansion drive. She said: "Assuming we can find the right properties and locations, we are planning to accelerate our growth a little next year."
Brunning and Price runs more than 40 pubs across the UK, based mainly in the North West of England, North Wales, and the South of England. It is expecting to open two more pubs this year, including the Hayhurst Arms in Cheshire.
