Business ‘bootcamps' launched for pub and bar managers
The training arm of Sector Skills Council People 1st and training firm Exemplas have launched a series of "business bootcamps" for owners and managers of pubs, clubs and bars who are looking for advice on how to grow their businesses.
The launch comes as it emerged that there are still two pubs closing every day throughout the UK.
The course, supported by both the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) and the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), will provide trade experts to help attendees overcome the challenges involved in running a licensed outlet and develop the skills required to run a successful business.
It will focus on a number of areas including: customer attraction and retention, improving profitability and cash management, recruiting and motivating staff, maximising food profits, and health and food safety.
The first bootcamp will be held from 7 to 9 November in Moorgate, London. Places cost £399 plus VAT, which includes first year membership to the BII.
The guest presenter is Alastair Scott, previously managing director of All Bar One and operational improvement director across the Mitchells & Butlers estate. He currently owns three pubs in his personal portfolio.
Employing temporary staff costs hospitality £33.4m a year, says People 1st >
