Carlton buys Manchester hotel

Carlton Hotels UK has bought the 85-bedroom Princess hotel in Manchester.

The hotel will be its third in the UK.

The company's other British properties are the 65-bedroom Carlton George hotel in Glasgow and the 36-bedroom Carlton Mitre hotel in Hampton Court, Surrey.

It also has six hotels in the Netherlands.

The group plans to refurbish the 19th-century Princess hotel and relaunch it as part of its Carlton Hotel Collection.

The price was not disclosed, but offers were invited in the region of £5m.

Christie & Co was the agent.
