Portland creates Royal treatment

ADDING GLITZ and efficiency to the staff restaurant was the order of the day for Portland Catering Equipment Ltd, which revamped the food service counters at the Royal Mail Headquarters staff restaurant.

So popular has the facelift proved, that takings are up by £150 per day.

The installation, completed over a bank holiday weekend, comprises tailor-made counters with stainless steel frames, cherrywood fronts and Velstone counters.

After close liaison with Quadrant, the Royal Mail's catering contractors, Portland, which had worked for a Royal Mail subsidiary previously, was appointed to the task.

The restaurant caters for 500 Royal Mail staff, providing breakfast and lunch, as well as sandwiches throughout the day.
