WALK-OUT SCHEME
A NATIONWIDE registration scheme to prevent hotel walk-outs - guests who leave without paying - has been set up by a West Sussex hotelier.
GuestWatch, which costs £5 a month, is based on members of the scheme providing names and descriptions for entry on to a central database. In return, they receive a monthly newsletter listing the latest walk-outs.
Norman Elms, proprietor of Worthing's Delmar Hotel, said the idea of a central database came to him after his own hotel suffered two walk-outs on successive days.
He eventually hopes to provide a 24-hour helpline giving members immediate access to the database.
