ROADSIDE FORTE
PAVILION Services has sold its two roadside service areas on the A55 at Bangor, Gwynedd, and on the A1 at Newark, Nottinghamshire, to Forte.
Forte plans to convert the restaurant and lodge at Bangor to its Little Chef and Travelodge brands, while at Newark the restaurant will become a Happy Eater.
Agent Christie & Co was asking £300,000 for the Newark site, which has planning permission for a 40-bedroom lodge, and £750,000 for Bangor. No purchase prices were revealed.
VEGGIE PLAN
VEGETARIAN cookery was given a boost last week with the launch of Caterveg, the Association for Vegetarian Catering, at the House of Commons.
The association, which has been founded with 200 members, will offer an information service and courses, and will publish guidelines, research and nutritional information.

CHINESE CRUISES
HOLIDAY Inn Worldwide is to manage two cruise ships on the Yangtze river in China as part of its upmarket Crowne Plaza brand.
The East King and East Queen will have a total of 160 bedrooms, and are due to be launched later this year by owners the Orient Royal Cruiser company.The two ships will be based at Wuhan, where Holiday Inn is opening a hotel later this year.
