SCOTLAND'S fifth Delifrance café opened in Edinburgh last week, after a five-year struggle to obtain premises.

Holders of the Delifrance master franchise in Scotland, Steve and Jacky Dinnes, said demand for property in the city centre and Scottish planning restrictions had delayed the opening.

Duncan Smith, new to the industry, paid ú200,000 for the sub-franchise of the 60-seat French-style café, which he hopes will have a turnover of ú2.5m in its first year.
