Cesa and ceda set service standards

A body to oversee the training, assessment and certification of commercial catering equipment engineers has been set up by the Association of Catering Equipment Manufacturers and Importers (CESA) and the Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA).

The Catering Engineers' Standards and Registration Board (CESRB) will endorse organisations that are deemed capable of providing the required level of training for those involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of gas-fired catering equipment.

Since 1 August, anyone carrying out such tasks is required to have undergone recognised training and be fully certificated and registered in accordance with the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for gas fitting operatives.

Cesrb is also working on developing a National Vocational Qualification for catering installation and maintenance engineers.
