Chameleon sees operating profits rise 62%
Chameleon Pub Company has seen operating profit rise 62% in 2010, as the firm celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The company, which has seven sites in the North of England, is still run by the same trio that founded the business with three sites - Phil Strong as managing director, Alistair Arkley as chairman and Barry Whitehead as financial director.
Each site is run by a manager who is given freedom to run the business as their own.
Commenting on the group's results, Strong said: "We've seen the industry go through many changes over the last ten years. The smoking ban brought challenges and opportunities, as has the recession, but we've built and retained an excellent management team and workforce and have adapted our offering to suit the needs of our customers.
"We're proud to be a strong and healthy business looking forward to the next decade and beyond. There's never been a better time for people to eat and drink out and we will continue to enjoy delivering what the public want."
The Moorings Pub and Kitchen in Sowerby Bridge was among the three venues the group started out with and it remains the flagship site within the estate. The Moorings played host to a major tenth birthday party attended by over 150 guests, customers, suppliers and staff. Amongst the attendees was Gail Wade, who has worked at The Moorings for over 20 years and has been an employee of Chameleon since the business launched in December 2000. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a gift to recognise her long service to the company.
